The comprehensive web resource for party lovers and planners.
Party planning can be a blast, but if you aren’t prepared, it can quickly become stressful. A great deal of thought and effort goes in to planning a party and you want to be able to enjoy it as much as your guests.
A good way to make sure you have all your ducks in a row is to put yourself in your guest’s shoes. As you plan your party, try picturing the event in your mind. Sit down with a paper and pen and mentally walk thru the party from parking your car to saying farewell at the end of the evening. You’ll be amazed how many details will come to light. Here are just a few:
Is there a person assigned to greet guests?
Do you have a place for guests to put their belongings, particularly in winter when most everyone wears a coat?
Is there enough space for guests around high traffic areas such as food tables or bar.
Do you have enough designated trash bins and are they easily accessible?
If guests are bringing food, do you have plenty of serving utensils available?
If you have guests that smoke, have you set aside an area outdoors with ashtrays?
The list goes on and on, but by taking a moment to do a mental run through, you’ll have a party that runs smoothly and you'll be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
